What Is An Aseptic Necrosis?

In medicine, necrosis is a disease that causes the loss of organ tissue. This is due to a disturbance in the blood supply and the consequent insufficient supply of nutrients to the joint. A relatively common disease is aseptic necrosis of the hip joint. And this disease is more common in men than women. More than half of cases of aseptic necrosis are reported in men aged 25-45 years. Aseptic necrosis is a rapidly progressive disease. At the first signs, a doctor should be consulted, otherwise, premature treatment may lead to complete loss of function, blood infection and loss of the limb of the blow.

What are the symptoms of this disease?

Necrosis affects the hip bone head. The head of this bone is a closed section whose function depends on the quality of the blood supply. П

Violations of the blood supply lead to changes in bone architecture.

The head is supplied with nutrients through three small-diameter arteries. When blood stops on one's head, bone death begins.

This process results in the complete or partial destruction of cartilage tissue and the development of secondary deforming osteoarthritis.

Symptoms and diagnosis of necrosis

  • 1 or in the early stages. The first sign of this disease is the occurrence of sudden pain. The focus of the pain is on the pelvic area. Painful sensations occur in the groin, knees and lower back. An increase in pain occurs every day and within 3-4 days of its onset, it becomes impossible. In this case, joint mobility is not lost.
  • The second step is to impress. The patient complains of aching, even if the union is immovable. The second phase can last from one week to six months. During this period, the patient has vascular disorders, the initial process of muscle atrophy is observed. The diseased limb becomes healthier and smaller. Movement is a restricted odorous appearance.
  • The third stage is secondary osteoarthritis. Bone destruction and joint deformity occur within 6-8 months after the onset of the disease. Back pain is worse. Movement is severely restricted. The patient has difficulty moving. There is a serious tendon when walking.
  • Step 4. If the disease occurs for more than 8 months without proper treatment, the bone will almost completely disappear. The patient is accompanied by persistent severe joint pain affecting the hips, knees and lower back. Movement is almost completely restricted. Muscular atrophy is significant, especially in the tibia and thigh muscles.

What are the reasons for aseptic necrosis?

Aseptic necrosis of the hip joint may occur for the following reasons:

  • dislocation or fracture;
  • frequent minor tissue damage and overload (especially with regular sports activities);
  • arterial thrombosis;
  • transmission of inflammatory diseases;
  • taking certain medicines (antibiotics and hormones in high doses and for a long time);
  • under pressure (for minerators and divers);
  • alcohol abuse.

In 80% of cases, osteonecrosis is bilateral. The head of the hip joint is often run by the knees, shoulders, elbows and ankles.

Osteonecrosis can occur several months or even years after the injury or pathological conditions that caused it.

A common type of disease at different stages

The process of the case is divided on stage, depending on the degree of destruction of the tissues of the hip or knee. Each stage has the same symptoms, but the intensity of their manifestation is different.

The main symptoms of the disease:

  • painful sensations;
  • atrophic changes in the soft tissues of the knee or knee (if the patient has necrosis of the knee joint);
  • decrease in the amplitude of joint movement;
  • shifting body weight to a healthy leg.
