HOW IS AZOOSPERMIA LINKED TO INFERTILITY ?

Azoospermia is frequently associated with fertility problems , because sperm is the most important factor for egg fertilization . This may come as a surprise to some men diagnosed with the condition, given that the libido, sexual functions and appearance of the semen seem to be perfectly normal.

In general,  It has been observed that this condition is mainly the result of hormonal imbalance in the body, and the natural form of treatment can be very helpful, replacing male hormones and bringing them to nominal levels. In this way, natural medicine will help the production of sperm and improve the fertility rate.

WHAT PROVOKES THIS PATHOLOGY ?

There are two main factors that provokes azoospermia in men ;

  • PROBLEMS OF SPERM TRANSPORT

This happens when there is a blockage in the ducts that are responsible for the transport of sperm from the testes to the penis.
.  Problems with semen transport can also be caused by vasectomies, infections or sexually transmitted diseases. .

  • PROBLEM OF SPERM PRODUCTION

In this case of azoospermia, the testicles do not produce sperm at all. This is linked to  primary testicular insufficiency (hypergonadotropic hypogonadism). Here, the sperm passageways are normal, but their production is not normal. This is due to testicular functions that do not function normally. In men diagnosed with non-obstructive azoospermia it is very possible that some parts of the testicles produce sperm, but the level of production may not be sufficient for it to be ejaculated.  Hormonal abnormalities, cryptorchidia (unobstructed testicles) and vascular trauma, all of these can be factors that contribute to sperm production problems. 60% of men diagnosed with azoospermia have non-obstructive azoospermia.

  • Increased prolactin may also inhibit sperm production.

What signals must you have to know you are suffering from azoospermia ?

Unfortunately, in the case of azoospermia, usually, there are no symptoms. The patient has no erectile dysfunction or failure to achieve orgasm.

Is premature ejaculation related to azoospermia ?

The clear answer is NO. Azoospermia has nothing to do with premature ejaculation, rather it is when ejaculation happens sooner than a man or his partner would like during sex.

What are the investigations needed to establish the diagnosis and type of azoospermia?

  1. semen
  2. Genetics: genetic karyotype, Y chromosome microdeletions, CFTR gene mutations
  3. Hormonal: FSH, LH, Testosterone, Inhibin B, Prolactin, TSH
  4. Imagistic: depending on the situation, testicular ultrasound and cerebral MRI
  5. Testicular biopsy: depending on the case

In the case of total testicular insufficiency, sperm production is non-existent. Then, multiple microbiops of the testicles are performed to determine whether it is partial or total testicular insufficiency.

WHAT KIND OF MEDICAL TREATMENT SOLUTION IS POSSIBLE FOR AZOOSPERMIA TO IMPROVE FERTILITY ?

In today's modern world, there are several treatment variants of azoospermia. Some of these include removing blockages from the duct system, consuming drugs to restore hormonal balance, and surgery. Although nonobstructive azoospermia is undoubtedly more difficult to treat, a revolutionary form of treatment for male infertility is surgical sperm collection. In this case, the semen is harvested directly from the testicles.

Using surgical procedures, most cases of obstructive azoospermia can be repaired by endoscopic microsurgery or reconstruction.  Sperm sampling can be performed and used with the help of reproductive technology to gain conception.

Also, sperm suction techniques can be used. This involves a procedure called Percutaneous sperm aspiration , in which sperm is aspirated from the epididymis and injected into female eggs. Alternatively, the sperm may be frozen for later use. This is done in the case of non obstructive azoospermia.

There is a very essential drug that can help treat azoospermia called Maxocum , which is useful in treating oligospermia and other sexual problems. Those who have been treated with this drug have only positive comments about the high efficacy rate it has.

WHO ARE THOSE AT RISK OF THIS PATHOLOGY ?

  • Patients with cancers treated by chemotherapy or radiotherapy have varying degrees of impairment of spermatogenesis that can go on until azoospermia.
  • Patients with major liver or kidney disease may have dysfunction of various degrees in spermatogenesis
  • Patients who have undergone groin hernia, vasectomy, or surgery for hydrocele ("testicular water").

TO PREVENT THIS ILLNESS

  1. Do not engage in activities that causes injury to the testes.
  2. Avoid taking medications that have harmful effct on sperm production.
  3. Avoid lengthy exposure of the testes to hot temperatures.
